WILHELM II: (1859-1941) German Emperor and King of Prussia 1888-1918. A vintage colour postcard featuring an image of a painting by Willy Stower depicting the German Emperor’s yacht S.M.Y. Hohonzollern sailing out of Venice in 1905, signed (‘Wilhelm I.R.’) by the Kaiser to a clear area at the base of the image, further adding a greeting in German in his hand, wishing the recipient a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year 1906. Willy Stower (1864-1931) German artist and illustrator during the Imperial Period, remembered for his nautical paintings. Kaiser Wilhelm II was an enthusiastic supporter and patron of the artist and Stower accompanied the Emperor on several voyages from 1905-12.
