WILSON ANGUS: (1913-1991)

WILSON ANGUS: (1913-1991) English novelist and short story writer. A small correspondence collection comprising an A.L.S. and two T.Ls.S., Angus Wilson, and one with his first name only, each one page, 8vo, Bradfield St. George, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, January 1959 - December 1965, all to Tom [Maschler]. Wilson declines an invitation and also sadly returns some theatre tickets 'as I have 3 plays that week' (24th January 1959), apologises for not recalling an earlier letter about The Window although thanks Maschler for sending a proof, 'I am snowed under with work at the moment, but I hope I can read the book soon' (14th July 1961), and in the final letter writing 'I thought you were very good on the Connolly programme, and yours was a helpful contribution - the decision to ask you and the method of presentation was, by the way, all decided by the producer, not by me' (11th December 1965). Some light creasing and minor age wear, G to VG, 3

Tom Maschler (1933-2020) British publisher who, from 1960, was head of the publishing company Jonathan Cape for more than three decades. Maschler was also instrumental in establishing the Booker Prize in 1969.
