NAPOLEON I: (1769-1821) Emperor of the French 1804-14, 1815. L.S., `Napol´, a bold ink signature, two pages, 4to, at the Palace of Saint Cloud, October 1808, in French. The handwritten document being a decree issued and signed by the Emperor, entitled "Napoleon Empereur des Français, Roi d´Italie et protecteur de la Confédération du Rhin". The decree contains three articles, referring to the appointment of Vice-Admiral Gantheaume as Count of the Empire and about the rights of his descendents. The bold ink signature bears an ink stain to the first capital letter. VG
