CARNE MARCEL: (1906-1996) French film director. A good vintage signed and inscribed 7 x 9 photograph of Carne in an appealing head and shoulders pose. Signed in bold blue fountain pen ink to a largely clear area of the image, ‘En toute sympathie, Marcel Carne’, and dated October 1953 in his hand. In November 1953, a month after Carne signed the present photograph, his film Therese Raquin was released. The Franch-Italian drama movie, loosely based on Emile Zola’s novel of the same title, starred Simone Signoret and Raf Vallone.
