SOUBLETTE CARLOS: (1789-1870) President of Venezuela 1837-39, 1843-47, a hero of the Venezuelan War of Independence. D.S., `C. Soublette´, two pages, folio, Bogotá, 29th March 1826, in Spanish. The partially printed document being a decree issued by Carlos Soublette as liberator of Venezuela and Cundinamarca. The decree aproves the retirement of a high rank officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Pedro Torres. With four countersignatures to the verso, including Jose Maria Carreño Blanco (1792-1849) Venezuelan politician and military. Provisional President of Venezuela as interim caretaker in 1837. Soublette will suceed Carreño after his short three months term as President. With blank integral leaf. Small overall age wear with few small stains, otherwise G
