LUMIERE LOUIS: (1864-1948) French Pioneer Filmmaker, along with his brother Auguste. T.L.S., Louis Lumiere, one page, Bandol, Var, 5th June 1943, on his Villa Lumen personal printed stationery, to Monsieur Raymond Langlois, "President de la Société d´Encouragement au Progres" ("President of the Society for the Encouragement of Progress"), in French. Lumiere thanks his correspondent, for his letter which he has received and for the documents attached, and states in part `Je me permets, toutefois, une remarque: C´est que dans le projet que contenaient les papiers reçus, je vois figurer encore Monsieur l´Abbé COLIN, de l´Académie des Sciences or, le Chanoine est mort il y a quelques mois. En outre, je me demande pour quel motif, je serai "dégommé" du Comité d´Honneur, dont je faisais partie antérieurement? Il est vrai que j´habite loin, c´est peut-être une raison, mais qui n´atteint pas certains de nos Collègues...´ (Translation: "I would like however to make a remark: in the project contained in the papers received, I see Abbot COLIN, of the Academy of Sciences, still appearing, but the Canon died a few months ago. Furthermore, I wonder for what reason will I be "removed" from the Honorary Committee, of which I was previously a member? It is true that I live far away, this is perhaps a reason, but one that does not affect some of our Colleagues..." About EX

By far the most popular way to participate in our auctions is to bid live via our website on the day. If you are bidding online with IAA Europe for the first time you will need to create an account, which is a very easy and straightforward process. It is also possible to bid ‘live’ on the telephone during our auctions. However, there are a limited number of telephone lines available to us and telephone bids will only be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept telephone bids for lots with a minimum estimate of less than 400€. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate the concession of telephone bidding, please be advised that IAA Europe S.L. are unable to accept any liability, howsoever caused in connection with telephone bidding. Please note that any lots purchased through telephone bidding will be subject to an additional 3% commission charge + VAT at the rate imposed on the hammer price.
