LLOYD WEBBER & RICE: LLOYD WEBBER ANDREW: (1948- ) English composer of musical theatre, Academy Award winner & RICE TIM: (1944- ) English lyricist, Academy Award winner. Andrew Lloyd Webber T.L.S., Andrew Lloyd Webber, one page, 4to, Wardour Street, London, 17th November 1972, to Thomas H. Scullion. Lloyd Webber thanks his correspondent for their letter 'to Tim and myself', adding that he is 'very happy to add my name to what sounds a fascinating collection of autographs from a marvellously varied selection of people' and further stating 'I am afraid that I have neither a souvenir programme of "Jesus Christ, Superstar" nor a photograph of myself in the office'; Tim Rice T.L.S., Tim Rice, one page, 4to, Wardour Street, London, 16th November 1972, to Thomas Scullion. Rice thanks his correspondent for their letter requesting autographs and continues 'I have sent both cards and a copy of your letter to Andrew Lloyd Webber who will return them to you when he has signed his name on them. In the meantime I enclose a signed photograph of myself as I am afraid that I do not have a spare souvenir programme in my office at the moment'. Together with a 12mo white card bearing blue ink signatures of both Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice individually, neatly annotated in the calligraphic hand of a collector to the upper and lower edges and dated 1972. Also including a signed and inscribed 8 x 10 light paper stock image by Rice, depicting the lyricist in a head and shoulders pose with a poster advertising Jesus Christ, Superstar in the immediate background. Signed by Rice in bold black fountain pen ink to a light area of the image. Generally VG to about EX, 4

By far the most popular way to participate in our auctions is to bid live via our website on the day. If you are bidding online with IAA Europe for the first time you will need to create an account, which is a very easy and straightforward process. Once you have an account you will simply be required to register to bid in each sale. On the day you will have access to a live audio and visual stream so that you can follow the excitement of the auction as it happens and submit bids in real time.
There are also several simple ways that you can bid at our auctions without being online. The most traditional method is to submit a commission (or absentee) bid. This can be done through your personal IAA Europe account, or by contacting us directly via email or telephone to submit the information.
It is also possible to bid ‘live’ on the telephone during our auctions. However, there are a limited number of telephone lines available to us and telephone bids will only be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept telephone bids for lots with a minimum estimate of less than 400€. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate the concession of telephone bidding, please be advised that IAA Europe S.L. are unable to accept any liability, howsoever caused in connection with telephone bidding. Please note that any lots purchased through telephone bidding will be subject to an additional 3% commission charge + VAT at the rate imposed on the hammer price.
