DURAND-RUEL JOSEPH: (1862-1928) French art dealer associated with the Impressionists and the Barbizon School, son of Paul Durand-Ruel (1831-1922) who had taken over the family business in 1865. A.L.S., Jos Durand Ruel, to the recto and verso of his personal printed small oblong 12mo Visiting Card, featuring his printed name to the centre and address at Rue de Rome (Paris) at the base, n.d., to an autograph collector, in French, 'Voici deux autographes de Miss. Cassatt. Mais ils sont assez personnels et ne peuvent etre publies. Vous pouvez les garder pour votre collection' (Translation: 'Here are two autographs from Miss. Cassatt. But they are rather personal and cannot be published. You may keep them for your own collection'). A charming example. VG
